(all types of link units can display 4 or 5 links accordin to your settings)
Currently, AdSense uses JavaScript code to incorporate the advertisements into a participating website. If the advertisements are included on a website that has not yet been crawled by the Mediabot, AdSense will temporarily display advertisements for charitable causes, also known as public service announcements (PSAs). (The Mediabot is different from the Googlebot, which maintains Google’s search index.)
AdSense ads generate revenue on either a per-click or per-impression basis. Although Google doesn’t disclose exact revenue share dividing between Google and publishers, average pay per click (PPC) revenue is usually reasonable and (as I know) varies somewhere between $0.05 to $0.30 per click for most websites. The PPC highly depends on topic and quality of your site.
Another way to monetize your website or blog with Google AdSense is AdSense for Search. AdSense for search allows website owners to place Google search boxes on their websites. When a user searches the Internet or the website with the search box, Google shares any advertising revenue it makes from those searches with the website owner. However the publisher is paid only if the advertisements on the search results page are clicked.
Google also offers AdSense for Feeds that allows publishers to place AdSense ads in RSS feeds and Adsense for domains that allows advertisements to be placed on domain names that have not been developed.
If you’d like to run Google AdSense ads on your website or blog and don’t have the AdSense account yet, you may apply for new accout here. Bofore placing the ads on your website you should read Google AdSense ProgramPolicies and Terms and Conditions. For more information about Google AdSense visit AdSense Help.
From my personal experience
Always try how various ad placements, formats and colours work for you. The click through rate (CTR) highly depends on these factors and can vary from about 0.1% to maybe 5%. Yes, in some cases you can make 50x more from your site just by altering position, format and colour of your ads. In most cases Large Rectangle (336×280) in-text ads with colours corresponding to your site colour scheme work best.
